Steamed Dhokla | Gujarat Dhokla Recipe | WithoutOven Besan Dhokla | Khaman Dhokla | Chickpeas Dhokla


The #recipe of today’s post hails from #Gujarat, #India and it’s a #vegetarian dish. It’s very #easy dish and #healthy. You can have it in your #breakfast, as a dish or as a sider or even as snacks. It’s very #light and very easy to #digest. Thus people, who are on #diet or #weight #loss #routine can surely make it as their one time #course #meal. It is a dish that’s loved by all #age group of people. This dish is now not only limited to Gujarat now but has also taken its place in all over #India and liked by many as their #daily or as #party #snacks.

So, let’s get started and make something #good, #healthy and #mouthwatering dish!

  • Preparation time 10 mins

  • Cooking time 20 mins

  • Servings 6

Ingredients

  • 2 Cup : Besan / chickpeas flour

  • 1 Tea spoon : Turmeric powder

  • ½ Cup : Curd

  • 4 Table spoon : Sugar

  • 1 Table spoon : Lemon juice

  • ½ Table spoon : Mustard seeds

  • 1 Tea spoon : Eno without flavor/ fruit salt / baking powder

  • 3-4 Whole : Green chili

  • 1 Table spoon : Oil

  • Table salt to taste

  • Water as required

Instructions

  1. Heat the steamer with water in it

  2. Take a bowl and add besan / chickpea flour

  3. Add turmeric, table salt, curd and mix well

  4. Add sugar followed by water and mix well

  5. Add lemon juice and form a smooth flowing batter

  6. Add eno without flavor/ fruit salt / baking powder and mix quickly

  7. Grease a bowl with oil and pour the batter in it

  8. Put a base in the steamer for bowl to settle and keep for 20 minutes an cover lid

  9. After 20 minutes check with knife or spoon by piercing, which should come out clean without any sticking of batter

  10. When cool cut into square pieces

  11. Now take another pan on medium flame, add oil

  12. Add mustard seeds and sliced green chili and let them crackle

  13. Add water, sugar and table salt to make a sweet salty mixture

  14. Pour it on dhokla

  15. Ready to serve on the plate

*#Tip : Can garnish dhokla with coriander leaves, grated coconut


**#Serve with red sauce, ketchup, green sauce, tamarind sauce
