Masala Brinjal | Eggplant Recipe | Masala Began | Masala Fruit Recipe


Today we start by sharing some #facts. Do you know #Brinjal or #eggplant is not a #vegetable but a #fruit? No no don’t hold your #surprise face because this does not stop here we are about to tell you that it is related to #tomato and #potatoes. Surprise! But true it comes from a species of #nightshade which delivers an #edible fruit which being related to #genus #Solanum, has its similarity to #tomato and #potatoes.

So with these awesome facts we today bring to you #masala #brinjal #recipe. So let’s get started!

  • Preparation time 10 mins

  • Cooking time 20 mins

  • Servings 4

Ingredients

  • 250 gms : Brinjal / eggplant

  • 4 Table spoon : Mustard oil

  • 1 Tea spoon : Jeera / cumin seeds

  • 1 Tea spoon : Kasuri methi / fenugreek leaves

  • 1 Tea spoon : Turmeric powder

  • 1 Tea spoon : Coriander powder

  • 1 Tea spoon : Garam masala

  • ½ Tea spoon : Chat masala

  • 100 gms : Tomatoes

  • 200 gms : Potatoes

  • Table salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Take kadhai on medium flame, add mustard oil

  2. Add jeera / cumin seeds, kasuri methi / fenugreek leaves and let them crackle

  3. Add tomatoes, turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala

  4. Add table salt and sauté till oil separates

  5. Add potatoes and cook for 2 minutes

  6. Add brinjal / eggplant, mix well and cover with lid

  7. After 15 minutes open lid and add chat masala and mix well

  8. Ready to serve

*#Tip:

  1. Can use fried potatoes directly

  2. Chilly powder or chilly flakes are optional

**#Serve with chapatti, roti, poori
